How to apply

Start your application well in advance of the closing date – don’t leave it until the day before!

Read the job description. You should talk about how your strengths match what the University department is looking for.

There are almost always two questions at the end of the application that are unique to that vacancy. Make sure that you give a detailed answer rather than one or two sentences.

If you are applying for more than one vacancy, your previous application will automatically fill most of the new one. You will need to edit this to make it relevant to each vacancy you apply for. 

You will need to make sure you list as many relevant strengths as you can think of. Back each of them up with an example of when you’ve demonstrated this strength.

Spelling, grammar and punctuation. Make sure that you check your application to ensure there are no mistakes.

When applying for an apprenticeship you will be competing against other candidates. You need to make your application as good as it can be to get shortlisted.

The application requires you to include any previous work experience you’ve had. Please note this includes both paid and unpaid work so please give details of both.

At the end of the application you are asked about learning difficulties or disabilities. It’s helpful to let us know about any learning difficulties or disabilities you have so we can support you.

Do not be discouraged if you do not get an interview. Some candidates apply for many apprenticeships before they are successful.
